Located close to the hill town of Casole d’Elsa, 45 minutes from Siena and 50 from Florence, this is Tuscany’s most luxurious retreat. The hotel stands at the top of a 4,000 acre estate and has wonderful views of the surrounding countryside and the distant towers of San Gimignano. Parts of the original castle date back to the 10th Century and the renovations have carefully preserved the sense of history. Although the 39 spacious suites are sumptuously furnished, their wrought iron beds and white linen give them a touch of rustic simplicity. Dining options include the gastronomic ‘Tosca’ restaurant and the low-key ‘Pazzia’. There is a magnificent infinity swimming pool, an extensive spa and a wide range of activities available.
