Senegambia Hotel - Gambia
Located in the heart of the bustling resort of Kololi and situated beside the inviting ocean, Senegambia is one of The Gambia’s best-known hotels and a great choice for a range of holiday-makers.
What we love
- The central location – a stone’s throw from the bars and restaurants of ‘The Strip’.
- The new freeform 'Oasis' pool which replaces the original top pool
Good to know
- The beach replenishment project has now been completed, providing a wide platform of sand with steps leading to the ocean; you can also enjoy a stroll along the sand at low tide.
- The hotel operates year round; the main buffet restaurant is closed for dinner during summer, however the new Lekukai terrace restaurant remains open.
Relaxation, activities and wildlife
Senegambia is The Gambia’s largest hotel, with its extensive grounds and careful design offering its guests the best of both worlds – vibrant and exciting entertainment, and also a laid-back, relaxing atmosphere. In addition to this, the hotel’s location beside the beach in the vibrant resort of Kololi makes it ideal for those wishing to relax on the sand or explore the surrounding bars and eateries.
This is a lively hotel with a wide range of activities during winter aimed at adults, teenagers and children – the most popular being the daily vulture feeding which takes place in the hotel’s gardens, attracting several species of birds and monitor lizards, as well as monkeys looking for a free lunch. The famous Senegambia gardens and the diverse birdlife that reside within them can be explored further with the hotel's resident ornithologist, on hand to provide tours within the grounds.
A blissful retreat
Dotted throughout the extensive, lush gardens, you will find the majority of the guest rooms, located in two-storey buildings. Decorated using neutral tones and wooden furniture, the rooms are well equipped and offer a comfortable night’s sleep, especially given that all rooms include air-conditioning as standard. The popular Superior rooms located in the main building or gardens provide a good upgrade option, while Studios with separate lounge and bedroom are also available; these often sell out quickly so it is best to book early.
Chill by the pool and dine in style
Senegambia boasts two attractive pools, one located by the beach where you can enjoy lively music and organised games, the other nestled in the tropical gardens; both have their own bar and restaurant.
Evening entertainment at the Senegambia during winter is both varied and animated thanks to its in-house entertainment team, along with African folklore nights and themed buffet evenings in the Domordula, the hotel's main restaurant. The extensive half board buffet is particularly popular, or indulge in a weekly poolside barbecue. with the new Lekukai international and snack terrace restaurant providing an excellent value, all-day dining alternative.
